I Already Looked Through The US Sales For You And Found The Best From Net-a-Porter To H&M!

Allgemein, fashion, humor, shopping

Lets pretend we are all stated in the US and our sale period already started. I used to think that this was true injustice and unfair, since our lovely friends from overseas had the chance to roll around  in the latest stuff prior to us, but soon have realized that this also conveys another meaning and chance for us. Lets see what the others get and learn out of it. Me, as a practitioner of Manrepeller religion, can’t wait to find the new articles of Leandra and Amelia of what to get and what not to. Not that one should focus on them, but their hints and argumentations are not-not necessary. As an inhabitant of a city with no sea (we do have a lower humidity level though) we all face the same fate. How is it possible to a) feel good; b) look good and c) look like one desires and not what the weather predetermines? I tell you, its way easier than one thinks.

Advice No.1: Get an oversize blazer

The good thing here is, that you won’t need much else. Just a blouse underneath and maybe something teeny tiny to keep your buttom safe.

Advice No.2: Get a long skirt

Easily worn with the most lousy shirt you own. Since the skirt is here the main piece here, you should try to step down a little with wearing a basic tee or equally good, your favorite Looney Tunes character.

I guess one should always try to find dresses, that can also be worn with something beneath or with a jacket over it. The best option would be of course some kind of kaftan, but unfortunately its really hard to find some good ones, that don’t make you feel like your coming straight out of  Ibiza. These all still are kind of ok-priced, but there are enough options at the highstreet brands too.

At last i’ll put some of my fav’s highstreet options and links down below:

When did looking amish become trendy?

Allgemein

I remember the very first time it popped into my mind, i was in NYC the first time ever, unlike my expectations we had temperature around 32 ℃ .  Céline already won over my heart with its 2012 AW collection and i started to sympathize more with mid-length skirts and minimalistic longsleeve shirts. It was a good year for me, stylistic improvement wise. So i started wearing a long white midi skirt with a little navy long sleeve over it and classic mary-janes. Walking down the street i realized i was looking different, i just couldn’t spot it. Surrounded by jeans-shorts, slogan shirts, pilot glasses and  flip-flops, everything just very americana i thought. They just like different things i guessed.

That fleeting thought just changed shortly after.

There they were, a group of 5 or 6 crossing the street, with the most wonderful wool woven mid-lengthed skirts, popped high white collars, classic mens loafers and small squared black leather bags. The visual manifestation of everything i was looking for in said days. It striked me that obviously showing too much skin, wearing too tight clothes and expressing these in extreme colour had never been a stylistic vision of mine. I already found the right way, for me, but that day i realized that looking amish, conservative or for some simply modest, expresses so much more than a typical summer look does. It is not a coincidence, that nobles and aristocrates exposed their wealth in form of fabrics and beautiful materials.

So here is some proof, that looking boring is the best, when done right. 2celine-summer2018-look17aceline-summer2018-look17bceline-summer2018-look10aceline-summer2018-look4aS18_JOOR41763_2000x143

3 Outfit Ideas To (still) Wear with a Turtleneck!

Allgemein

I can’t recall, when my deep dissatisfaction with scarves started. It must have been winter obviously and i probably must have been sick with tieing them around my neck plus making me look like i was a michelin man (not having a problem with looking like a michelin man in general). Its pretty tough to dress properly and not in jeans and sweaters constantly in winter, but adding a scarf to the already trash outfit didn’t make it any better. But how does one keep oneself warm and still look OK? Like the unexpected headline predicted. Turtlenecks!

Its scary how often i wear turtlenecks indeed. A non-qualified statistical review of mine confirmed that its about 90 percent. So apparently i needed to share my deep wisdom with the world and show you some ways to try!

New Year equals New Style?

Allgemein

I do not know if it is a natural symptom to believe that style changes after new years. Something in our brains tell us, that a new period starts ( not just our braain, it’s a bit of a reality though huh?). Everything needs to be planned for the upcoming year. Bullet journals are taken out to start a more structured life. Fitness and health is being written with big letters. Family and friends is going to be spend more time with. Enthusiastic feelings should occur, just like when you know a new runway show is going online or those shoes you’ve been craving for, for weeks, will finally arrive in two days.  Still, it is more like a brew of feelings, mainly consisting of indifference and laissez-faire towards the future. Maybe it is the pressure of having to know yourself better now, getting older and also being compelled of knowing whats good right now (also in a materialistic-fashion kind of way). The only reason that sounds comprehensible is that we have an extreme urge to change ourselves now that the new year starts. It’s like somebody deleted everything before and we now get the chance to start from the bottom, concerning ourselves, our style or our habits. But that’s just the impression one gets. I will try my best like every year and i am also most certain that nothing will change at all. But except for the styles of course. Future habits of shopping unnecessarily follows below.

Looking festive and still individual! 3 looks to help you out!

Allgemein

Now that the festive season starts, we can all assure, that wearing green, gold and tartan is totally ok and even required. It’s not like wearing these kind of colour combinations is bad, i surely get crazy everytime i see red tartan blankets or socks. But we should still have the ambition to not look like predicted or at least not appear in a little black dress nor ugly sweater (which might be fun also!). It should not be too hard to stay true to your style, but still look festive. THATS TRUUE!   I created a few examples and tried to find as many sale items as possible. So here it goes!

This is for the more brave ones! Of course there needs to be one piece that reminds us of what we celebrate. Hence the proper classy cableknits and knitwear!

Screenshot 2017-12-05 14.59.00.pngLiving in the US definitely has its flaws. Especially in sale season. How come it starts so early in the States and we poor Europeans have to wait until Christmas. This marketing strategies are driving me crazy. Good luck to have friends abroad or simply not being a shopaholic and waiting till sale season starts officially. Anyway, i still picked out some of the greatest gifts one can make to oneself or your beloved other half or whoever you want (spending money is the priority here!)

The Spring 17 RTW Prada show had me from the beginning on. I don’t know why, but my inner self tells me to look like a tomboy/grandma from the 60’s from now on. Resort 18 carries a lot of similar items, but Spring 17’s are on sale right now! So here are some of the best picks available!

The last Call! The Best Sale Picks You’re Happy You Didn’t Buy Yet

Allgemein

Screenshot 2017-08-05 19.04.45.pngObviously sale is coming to an end. Even though it’s so easy to get used to the 70% off price tag, everything needs to come to an end (Why though?). Still we can make the best out of it. Too many onlineshops have still stayed untouched from our greedy fingers. It seems like many of them added new items later on to their sale, which lead to my naive behaviour of not checking them out anymore. And since i just realized it today, their price tags are low af.

So here comes my shopping list for everyone, who is married to a sheikh or planning on becoming their future-wife. I will start from my mostly desired ones to would-still- be-happy-if-you-love-me-and buy-it-for-me ones. And apparently a slight overload of Balenciaga.

The best designer sneakers to exchange your Stan Smith’s, immediately!

Allgemein

As a non believer in terms of „comfort goes over appearance“, i do have to deal with my decision on a daily basis. Feet do not want to be abused and squeezed into tiny pointed heels (thanks balenciaga, the 2000’s and my addiction) and  it still seems impossible for me to find a right pair of sneakers. I know, it may appear so easy, just go get a pair of stan smiths you might say, or buy these nikes, they are so retro now with all their 1970’s designs being brought back to you. Or not. All in all their comfortable and thats what they all should be about. I would love to to be thinking like that, but i definitely am not capable of seeing one more of the aforementioned shoes, let alone on my feet. I definitely do not want to make it sound like i’m too cool for sneakers. I just can’t handle wearing shoes, everyones wearing. Yes, one of my biggest (and most expensive) weaknesses.
Anyway, i wouldn’t right about all this, if there wasn’t a solution for all of this.
Until recently i was in strong belief wearing designer sneakers was a mum thing. No offense to any stylish mums wearing designer sneakers. I get you know. Apparently the whole athletics trend overrunning the runways led to some pretty good examples. First, the asians got me with their style again, while i was in milan running around on a fair. I saw them on her. It was true beauty. And they were sneakers. Impossible for me to find out which brand they were from, i had to follow said women for almost 10 minutes. I still couldn’t see the designers label or recognize its design. Devastated, i gave up. No chance to find them anymore, might be a still foreign but so cool label from the far east, i thought. But then, there was this mall. I saw them right under the very famous skull heads of our beloved Alexander Mcqueen. And their it all started. The upcoming days i was searching for similar looking or lets better say, design worthy sneakers and i have found so many.
So please, do yourself a favor and change your Stan Smiths. They deserve a pause.

It’s not officially sale season, but anyway. We still found some!

Allgemein

Without starting with all that talk about how important shoes and handbags are and what good investments one can make with them, because you will wear them for ages and how they will always be classics, i will deny it straight forward. Actually there are no good investments with designer shoes.

No shoe can be worth 900$. I know it. It does not make any sense. Not to humankind.
Still, though. I do not write this stuff to be rational or reasonable.
The only reasonable thing is, buying them when they’re on sale.
Which is officially not the case right now, buuuut some shops started, so why wait and why talk more, just look at what i found. All under 500$.

How revolutionary is Vetements really?

Allgemein

We had seen it before, kind of. Not the very chic, high-fashion, embroidery-filled, pailletes-full gowns. But the cool guys between all the high fashion brands. First Acne comes to mind, maybe 3.1. Phillip Lim, Jil Sander, Balenciaga and so on. There were a few brands, where one used to think that they will kind of change the fashion game.  But Vetements changed it totally.  Making new jeans out of old ones might not be a new idea, but how come paying 1k for jeans is ok or even a good idea?

I truly have to say that i have no true explanation.
It just might be an image created by the designers. It is like a joke. It all started with the famous DHL Shirt, does anyone remember?
It was like making jokes about serious brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Co., who’s famous status symbol is there Logo. Maybe it was even meant critically, concerning the crazy going hype with all the logos on bags, shoes and clothing. The best example is their sweater. Still they have the same price tags on.
Anyway.
I personally think that it just fits perfectly in the ongoing hype of the 80’s and 90’s
which is accompanied by the very youthful and gothic-like looks, especially by using german words like „Polizei“,  celebrating being different. So it definitely is not revolutionary, but still gives enough fresh air to this whole circus.
