I can’t recall, when my deep dissatisfaction with scarves started. It must have been winter obviously and i probably must have been sick with tieing them around my neck plus making me look like i was a michelin man (not having a problem with looking like a michelin man in general). Its pretty tough to dress properly and not in jeans and sweaters constantly in winter, but adding a scarf to the already trash outfit didn’t make it any better. But how does one keep oneself warm and still look OK? Like the unexpected headline predicted. Turtlenecks!
Its scary how often i wear turtlenecks indeed. A non-qualified statistical review of mine confirmed that its about 90 percent. So apparently i needed to share my deep wisdom with the world and show you some ways to try!
Now that the festive season starts, we can all assure, that wearing green, gold and tartan is totally ok and even required. It’s not like wearing these kind of colour combinations is bad, i surely get crazy everytime i see red tartan blankets or socks. But we should still have the ambition to not look like predicted or at least not appear in a little black dress nor ugly sweater (which might be fun also!). It should not be too hard to stay true to your style, but still look festive. THATS TRUUE! I created a few examples and tried to find as many sale items as possible. So here it goes!
This is for the more brave ones! Of course there needs to be one piece that reminds us of what we celebrate. Hence the proper classy cableknits and knitwear!

We had seen it before, kind of. Not the very chic, high-fashion, embroidery-filled, pailletes-full gowns. But the cool guys between all the high fashion brands. First Acne comes to mind, maybe 3.1. Phillip Lim, Jil Sander, Balenciaga and so on. There were a few brands, where one used to think that they will kind of change the fashion game. But Vetements changed it totally. Making new jeans out of old ones might not be a new idea, but how come paying 1k for jeans is ok or even a good idea?
I truly have to say that i have no true explanation.
It just might be an image created by the designers. It is like a joke. It all started with the famous DHL Shirt, does anyone remember?
It was like making jokes about serious brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Co., who’s famous status symbol is there Logo. Maybe it was even meant critically, concerning the crazy going hype with all the logos on bags, shoes and clothing. The best example is their sweater. Still they have the same price tags on.
I personally think that it just fits perfectly in the ongoing hype of the 80’s and 90’s
which is accompanied by the very youthful and gothic-like looks, especially by using german words like „Polizei“, celebrating being different. So it definitely is not revolutionary, but still gives enough fresh air to this whole circus.

Do not ask your patent attorney. He will tell you how hard it is to protect your design. I just realized it today, now that the online shops are raising the number of their winter products.
Usually i recognize the copies with a mix of enthusiasm and happiness, but still questioning whether it is ok in that case or not, to „steal“ this design.
I mean, who even recognizes the copied pieces besides the fashion victims?
For others they just seem like the normal collection arriving to aw16.
But today, maybe the first time in history, i kind of felt sorry.
Not sorry for the companies, who still make enough money, even when getting copied.
But for the designers, the crew sitting behind all these ideas, projects and their working time to realize these designs. Does it make me want to buy the 1000 € J.W. Anderson skirt instead of the 40 € Zara version? No. Does it make me not buy the Zara skirt? Yes.
On the other hand, if we just forget for a minute in what kind of crucial way these products are produced, fast fashion democratizes the consumption of designer fashion.
It gives you the opportunity to express yourself with these designs, even if you weren’t designated as a consumer. Who can tell the difference between a good mix of high-low fashion and an only high-end look? I guess nobody. So there is no difference anymore.
Everyones the same, so that the personal aspects in personalizing the fashion stands in the foreground.
To me, it is getting clearly more important to take design as itself more serious and question every copy i see.
We are waiting for it the whole year. Since i am living in the northern hemisphere, we approximately calculate somewhat like 2-3 good weeks of summer. Well real summer i mean. The rest is usually a moody cocktail of cloudy, rainy, but sometimes also shiny weather, which makes you loose all of your optimism concerning wearing those satin leather slides you just got on a discount, but were still too expensive to tell your mum.
Of course going on holiday exists, but seriously, how long are you going to stay at that pool? Since there is no „i love to travel“ on my bio, this means 1-2 weeks.
Long story short. Go buy some stuff you can wear in summer, but ALSO in colder times.
1. Such as: a good midi skirt. Its a skirt right? So its providing you with air between your legs. That should be enough. Otherwise just wear some jeans beneath it, to make it weather appropriate. Some examples will follow.
2. Slides, you can also wear with socks. This does not suit to every kind of slide or mule in my opinion, but to most of them. Clash the styles, use thick wintery socks for your embroidered Dries Van Noten mules, wear shiny nylon socks with classic Slippers.
3. Sleeveless Tops. Even turtlenecks are in fact. And hey they would look great with that midi skirt and mules you just bought.
Wear an off-shoulder longsleeve top beneath it, when you’re scared of goose bumps.Or even a thick turtleneck, whatever you wear, it will look cool.

The last thing i learned in marketing class was to not get your buyers used to the sales season.
But since we all know, that sooner or later these favorite 4 letters will reach us from everywhere in our incoming mailbox, we tend to wait.
And thats ok, if not even a must sometimes. Since i have a quite strange style compared to the masses ( like all of us, who like to deal with fashion as religion) it is possible to find cool things still left on the shelves.
Some shops like mytheresa, style bop, modaoperandi and the everlasting one on the outnet. I tried to compromise some of my favourites, which should not be too trendy nor lame. I picked some out of Net-a-porter and Trademark ( which have incredibly good things on sale right now) as a little inspo.
If you want to look like you just left french riviera for some cool drinks at the little village bar. Wear.This.Scarf.Aka.Top.It will only cost 145 bugs. And you almost look like Grace Kelly. For sure.
I have seen MDS Stripes dresses and tops so often recently and was always wondering which super cool designers pieces they were. Eventually they are made by Mark D. Sikes and this guy has some true love affair with everything white and blue in striped versions.
I love it, it looks polished and summery. The opposite of the also common hippie style.
This top is actually a scarf. Fun fact.
Big Minus!!! They only do send in the US right now, but since they’re quiet hip right now i think they will expand really fast. Another chance is by buying from shops like https://www.modaoperandi.com/mds-stripes-ss16
There own shop is http://mdsstripes.com
It all started with some Hooligans in England, was adopted by the Punks and now we see every other girl or boy wearing them. Its the bomber jacket. The great part about them is, that you can wear them to every style. The one that appears the most, must be the casual style. Wearing some Jeggins, sneakers and a bomber over it. And no offense at all! It looks super cool and comfy. But when you don’t like seeing others with your clothes on, you might not want to wear bomber jackets that way anymore.
Gucci had some sequined silky ones and ultra metallic ones, in their last show, which i guess all of us know thanks to social media.
I really like what Alessandro Michelle did here, even if some people think he just copied the Tennenbaums. I just do not like these silky blousons too much with the japanese prints or other flower like looking prints. I did wear these kind of blousons like 3 years ago? From h&m i guess. So not that revolutionary for me. But still good-looking.
These are the more ladylike versions of the „bomber“, i personally like the original version best. Wearing a navy or khaki bomber over a blazer, or girly dress can make your look go from a 24 to 1000000. Here have some inspos.

Good options here are the Alpha Industries Ma-1 Jacket, which is a all time basic.
But many many designers do have bomber jacket models right now. Philipp Lim had a very cool one, and so many more that i don’t even know.
This one here is my personal favorite, just waiting for it to get in stock again.
Haven’t seen anybody with this one before. Its just an advice, but don’t get the khaki one.
No! Who said it is? I just realized that there is a more sophisticated way to show your beautiful bare shoulders. The classic off the shoulder blouses are very sweet as well, but i like the upcoming trend a little bit more. Having a little bit of textile hanging on your wrist makes you look like a cool girl, but also a lady. Have a look on the upcoming pics and shopping advices. Of course i fell in love with the dress version, which i could get if i would sale my whole interior and my university diploma. Its Juan Carlos Obando. Damn your good.
Go get them inspos!
The navy silk dress Leandra Medine wore, is the aforementioned Juan Carlos dress, you can get it at netaporter for 1500 pounds, so well, lets skip to the other ones.
This blue one is sooo 1920, but still too naked for 1920, so you can wear it now. Its Self-Portrait and beautiful and worth its price in my opinion. Actually every dress from Self Portrait is wonderful, check it out immediately, but thats a different story.
The alternative that our Highstreet Fav’s please us with aren’t too bad either. I love the nude Zara dress for 80 bucks.
I bet there are a whole lot of more good dresses or tops in that style, tell me if you find any!
Now that the first flowers start to bloom and the oh so loved insects start to swim in your glass of maracuja juice you just ordered 2 seconds ago, you realize that something is changing. Animals you thought were dead, come back. And thank god for that. We’re calling it spring. And just like a snake, which likes to get rid of his skin every now and then, we like to change our style dramatically or at least wear something that still can not be found in our closet. Good for us, that online shops like to get rid of their clothes as well. The Fast Fashion retailers seem to have a never ending season sale, where you sure might get some cool stuff to. But the good stuff still lies in the shelves of the big fishes.
Here some inspirations to get now:
I know its totally ridiculous, but i love anything with stars and planets so why not get this Valentino beauty at mytheresa?
I’m still thinking to get these, because when would you not look like 1/2 horse 1/2 human and still be centaur cool? Just get them at stylebop.com if you want to join my hairy team!
Last, but of course not least and actually because i have no clue about how to create a gallery with links, i would like to put emphasis on the following pair of not-skinny jeans. I need those Jonathan Saunders red flared pants, because i need to look like a more dramatic Robespierre. The Rachel Comey khaki x jeans are perfect for the upcoming weather paired with a mens shirt et voila! Get them at avenue32.com, which have a super big sale right now.
